Ideal Movers is a Kolkata based Private Limited Company, which started the transportation business in the year 2000.

Business Situation
Ideal Movers has outgrown its existing accounting system. A new system was required that could handle vehicle movement and transportation orders.

The Promoter Directors of the company are Mr. S.K.Himtsingka, Mr. Tirthraj Himatsingka and Mr. Nakul Himatsingka. All the Directors are well qualified and experienced in the line of transportation and various allied activities. The Group is also engaged in real estates development, dealership of TATA commercial vehicles in eastern part of the country and trading in Dolomite, Dolime, Calcined Lime, Ferro Alloys etc. Some of the valuable customers of Ideal Movers are Essar Logistics Ltd., Tata Steel Ltd., and Welspun Gujarat Stahl Rohren Ltd.

Ideal Movers a leading transport company needed to upgrade its existing accounting system. Other requirements included management of transport orders, vehicle movement, and automated generation of freight invoices. Ideal Movers wanted to implement a complete integrated solution. After evaluating various options, the company chose Microsoft Dynamics NAV 4.0.

Situation
The IDEAL Group has developed a firm footing in the business arena conformed by ventures in Hire Purchase and Leasing, Real Estate, Automobile Dealership, Transportation and Minerals with offices at Kolkata, Jamshedpur, Muzaffarpur, Surat, Dahej, Gandhidham, Udaipur, Wani, Nagpur, Chennai, Vijaywada, Wardha and Mumbai.

The hire purchase business of the group has now diversified into various core activities, real estate, transportation, dealership of commercial vehicles, and mining and supply of minerals.

Ideal Movers Pvt. Ltd. (IMPL) is part of Ideal Group of companies. The company is engaged into road transport and logistics services. It provides services mostly to steel industries to transport materials for its client through road transport. The main earnings of the company are through transport services. The company has transport contract with its customer to work as their authorized transport agency. The contract outlays terms and conditions including freight rates for different point to point.

IDEAL is into transportation business for long and has developed a firm footing in the business arena.

The earlier system was using an accounting solution which used to cater to the very basic financial needs of the company. The company had reached the functional limits of its outdated accounting solution, which had come to the end of its useful lifespan.

The major shortcomings of the old system were that it was incapable of maintaining transport orders and the financial reports generated were erroneous. Also, in order to maintain operational efficiency, the company’s systems need to minutely control vehicle maintenance and movement.

All of these requirements needed to be addressed as quickly and efficiently as possible, in order for Ideal Movers to optimize its business processes and remain competitive.

Another requirement of the new system was that it needed to automate the preparation process of freight invoice.

Solution
Ideal Movers was using Microsoft Office and accounting software for maintaining all its operations. However, as the applications were not integrated, it was resulting in doing repetitive work and inability to track information. The company needed a simple solution that was flexible enough to accommodate all its business needs.
